POLICE: Fraudulent water inspector scam

The Brockville Recorder and Times published the following police report about a fraudulent water inspector scam. Groundwater contamination could be problem

A new study is raising questions about the safety of drinking water in communities across Eastern Ontario after concluding that there is bacteria-contaminated groundwater in the village of Portland, outside Smith Falls. The groundwater that supplies wells in Portland sometimes carries bacteria from sewage, a range of drugs, and probably hard-to-detect viruses, says the new Queen’s University case study. The Leeds-Grenville Stewardship Council has been working with Leeds County farmers, farm organizations and the Leeds Community Pasture Association over the last eight years to improve the water quality of the Gananoque River watershed, which feeds the St Lawrence River, by excluding cattle from the upper reaches. Police in Cornwall concerned by scam

Written by Michael Peeling Cornwall – As complaints pile up, the city police service has become more incensed with an ongoing attempt to scam seniors into believing’ their tap water is contaminated.
